True Hearts diamonds require additional craftsmanship and raw material than other diamond cuts. Each True Hearts diamond facets and pavilions must be aligned at exactly 180 degrees in relation to each other in order for the symmetry to be achieved. If even the slightest asymmetry is present, the entire configuration will be disrupted.

In order to achieve a perfect configuration, the diamond cutter gives up a great deal of rough stone in return for a diamond which can be smaller, but because it is rarer, more valuable.
